Summary: Weird place. One star because it is a beautiful property. One star because the bulk of the staff are kind and helpful. The owner of this hotel treats the staff terribly. Spent an afternoon trying to relax by the pool but couldn't because she spent the entire time (two hours!) screaming and berating the poor staff over the silliest things (blue cheese, a cup of tea). Said such mean things to them in front of me and actually ended up saying mean things to ME when I had an interaction with her. The room was so dark I had to keep the door open to see anything, even with all the lights on. The bathroom smelled so overwhelmingly of sewage it made me ill. The hotel was unresponsive on my day of check in and I couldn't get a boat across the river for two hours. You're better off staying somewhere else.
